Northern Circuit - Tanzania Top Destinations
Overview
The Zanzibar archipelago is the world’s ideal destination, offering exceptional beach experiences and incredible moments for your once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is made up of two massive islands, Pemba and Unguja.
The largest island, Unguja, is colloquially known as Zanzibar. It is located off the coast of the mainland in the Indian Ocean. Spice Island, located off the east coast of Africa, is teeming with culture and history, which appear at odds with its amazing landscape of white sand beaches and palm trees swaying gently in the sea air. These factors combine to make Zanzibar an outstanding place to explore and also a fantastic place to relax.
Discover Zanzibar’s best beaches, complete with breathtaking sunsets, palm-fringed beaches, turquoise waters, and vibrant coral reefs. Whether you’re traveling from Tanzania’s mainland to Zanzibar for post-safari relaxation, a chilled beach vacation, or a romantic safari, the main draw of this Paradise Island is its outstanding beaches, which ensure the perfect stay.
Nungwi Beach
It is the most beautiful beach, with its pure white sand and azure sea. Nungwi is almost like a private island, with its pristine beaches and turquoise waters. The tides are less dramatic than on other islands, and the crystal blue seas are exquisitely calm.
Nungwi is a popular tourist destination due to its ideal location on the main island, breathtaking beauty, activities, and lodging for all budgets.
Kendwa Beach
It’s one of those places that makes you satisfied. White sands, a large beach, and clear waters entice you to go swimming and snorkeling more often.
Kendwa is a bustling place with live music and delicious Swahili local food and beverages.
Pongwe Beach
Pongwe Beach is a tranquil haven where one can escape the stresses of modern life. The beach is lovely, and when the tide isn’t completely in, it’s seaweed-free and very appealing due to its location on a small concave section of the shore.
Instead of the great, sweeping beaches, there is an enclave of pure beach gold with calm waters for swimming.
Paje Beach
Although the area is tidal, it is home to some of our favorite luxury boutique hotels. The accommodation provided here will not disappoint.
Although the beach is beautiful, getting wet is more difficult than in the northern Nungwi districts because the sea is further out and more tidal. It also works well for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
Kizimkazi Beach
This coastline is very different from the traditional palm-backed wetlands of the east coast. Because the beaches here are small rather than long stretches of sand, and a coral rag bluff raises the shoreline above the water, there aren’t as many places to stay, and the vibe is distinct and genuine.
The dolphin safaris in Kizimkazi are well-known, but if you visit, please be cautious when signing up for boat trips that include the opportunity to swim with dolphins.
Jambiani Beach
Seaweed growers appreciate this location in Zanzibar’s southern east. They may be encountered while walking along a beach, especially at low tide.
Cuza Cave is a must-see attraction for visitors to Jambiani Beach in Zanzibar. An ancient limestone cavern with swimming-friendly turquoise water. Among the activities available are traditional culinary workshops, dance, and local drumming.
Nakupenda Beach
The name Nakupenda is a Swahili word that means “I love you,” and it accurately describes the adorable experience that can be had at this iconic beach.
It takes about 20 minutes to get from the stone town to the best snorkeling beach. Nakupenda Beach is ideal for large groups, families, and couples.
Dongwe Beach
It is situated between the Bwejuu and Michamvi beaches in Zanzibar’s southeast. This is a truly iconic beach that encapsulates the essence of the Indian Ocean.
The magnificent, soothing shadows cast by the lovely lined palm trees can be enjoyed by visitors. This beach is extremely peaceful. You can relax in the huts and avoid the hot sun during the day.
Zanzibar Excursions
When you mention Zanzibar Island, also known as a spice island, you can almost smell the soft trade breezes carrying the aroma of spices. At this exotic port off the coast of Tanzania, visitors can enjoy the pleasurable delights of white sand beaches and lapis waters, as well as a captivating combination of culture and history. Stone Town and the bustling bazaars that makeup Zanzibar’s center reflect the island’s long multi-cultural history.
Persian, Arab, Portuguese, German, British, Indian, and African influences can all be seen here. Your tour guide can fill you in on some of this fascinating history. Outside of the city, you can visit gleaming beaches, spice farms, or one of the island’s unusual wildlife sanctuaries. Have a great time exploring the island!
Prison Island
Prison Island, also known as Chaguu Island, has a beautiful beach, clear water, and a variety of excursions. The island provides fantastic opportunities to swim or snorkel in Zanzibar’s stunning coral gardens.
Relax on the prison island beach while watching the giant tortoises, the island’s main attraction. Turtles are not indigenous to the area, but they are magnificent creatures that can weigh up to 200 kg on average.
Stone Town
Stone Town has preserved much of its original urban fabric and townscape, as well as several beautiful structures that reflect its distinct culture. This iconic town combines African, Arab, Indian, and European cultures.
The main activities include visiting fascinating historical sites such as Freddie Mercury’s house, the House of Wonder, the Zanzibar National Museum, the Old Zanzibar Slave Market, and the Darajani Market. In Stone Town, there are numerous curio shops where you can buy gifts and souvenirs.
Spice Tour
Zanzibar has many attractions, some of which are unique to the island. One of the most intriguing excursions we offer is the Zanzibar Spice Tour. Have you ever visited a spice plantation? Most likely not. If you’re going to Zanzibar, you should experience this.
The main activities include visiting spice plantations to identify the different types of spices grown in Zanzibar, as well as testing and smelling every spice available. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about tropical fruits, spices, and herbs like cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, cardamom, curry, pepper, and tamarind.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is a popular activity, particularly in tropical tourist spots. It provides the opportunity to see underwater species in their natural habitat without the complicated equipment and training required for scuba diving.
It appeals to people of all ages due to the minimal effort required and serves as the foundation for the two surface disciplines of the underwater sport. The most popular activities on Zanzibar Island beaches are swimming and snorkeling at the reefs.
Jozani forest Tour
The main activities include walking through Zanzibar’s natural forest, which is home to a variety of animal species, including the Zanzibar endemic red Colobus monkeys, which can only be found in the Jozani forest.
Take photos of various animals while strolling along a boardwalk through the Mangrove swamp area.
Sunset Dhow Cruise
This is the path that an authentic Arabian dhow takes. The tour begins in Forodhani on the island of Zanzibar.
Visitors are exploring the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum, the Old Dispensary, and the Custom House while also enjoying the sea view and local treats and beverages.
Dolphin tour
Zanzibar Dolphin Tour was created specifically to provide the most authentic dolphin tour experience possible.
Zanzibar Island has a lot to offer in terms of exceptional dolphin tour experiences. Kizimkazi Beach is one of the best places to interact with these fascinating creatures without bothering their friendly nature.
Village Experience
The main activities are to meet the locals of Zanzibar and see how they go about their daily economic and social activities.
It also includes learning about Zanzibar Swahili culture by interacting with locals and participating in some of the activities popular in the Zanzibar archipelago, such as fishing, cooking classes, and visiting local homes, to name a few.
