Wildebeest Crossing Safari

Tour Overview

This safari provides exceptional opportunities to witness the great migration river crossing, occurring between July and late October. Occasionally extending into early November due to rainfall, the crossing is primarily determined by wildebeest migration patterns. The migration kicks off in early July, heading towards the northern Serengeti in preparation for the gestation period in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

In September, expect the herds to be widely dispersed across Tanzania’s northern Serengeti and Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. Depending on rainfall, some herds may cross the river and head south, while others remain in the northern Serengeti. The migration herds begin their journey back to the Serengeti’s Southern Plains in late October to early November, preparing for the calving season. Spending more nights in the northern Serengeti allows for a comprehensive experience, following the migration route.
