Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, a Habitat Adventure representative will greet you and transfer you to your accommodation in Dar es Salaam city for dinner and overnight stay. Take in the unique blend of urban buzz and relaxed charm that Dar es Salaam offers as you prepare for your exploration of Tanzania’s southern circuit.
Your southern circuit safari kicks off with a visit to Mikumi National Park. After a wholesome breakfast, your guide will drive you from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park. Experience a thrilling game drive with a packed lunch, exploring the park’s main feature—the Mikumi flood plain. This area supports diverse wildlife, including impala, zebra, giraffe, elephants, and a variety of antelope species. Mikumi’s colorful landscape and abundant wildlife make it a fantastic destination for game drives. After an exhilarating day, your guide will drive you to the lodge for relaxation, a delectable dinner, and overnight stay.
Following breakfast, embark on an adventure to Ruaha National Park, the country’s second-largest park. Stop in Iringa town for a hot lunch and continue your drive to Ruaha. Witness the scenic Tanzanian countryside, mountains, villages, and small towns along the way. Once in Ruaha, enjoy a game drive showcasing over 400 bird species, large herds of elephants, buffalo, lions, leopards, giraffes, and more. The park’s diverse ecosystem includes Usangu Game Reserve and Rungwa Game Reserve. After an immersive game drive, your guide will transfer you to a lodge for dinner and overnight.
Embark on an early morning game drive to witness the incredible herds of elephants, buffalo, antelopes, zebras, and predators like lions, leopards, wild dogs, and cheetahs. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast before continuing your exploration through different park habitats. Afternoon game drives offer opportunities for unique wildlife encounters, with a stop for lunch. As the day concludes, your guide will drive you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Another day of thrilling game drives awaits, providing opportunities to spot more than 500 bird species and various predators like lions and endangered wild dogs. The park’s diverse attractions include elephants, a variety of antelope species, and exclusive luxury camps. Enjoy a packed lunch during the afternoon game drive, capturing the best moments of resident animals. After an exciting day, your guide will drive you to the lodge for relaxation, a delightful dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, prepare for your wildlife adventure in Nyerere National Park. Consider the option of flying between these destinations for convenience due to the distance. Transfer to the airstrip for a flight to Nyerere National Park, where your professional safari guide will welcome you. Indulge in a delicious lunch before experiencing a unique boat ride down the Rufiji River, offering a distinctive perspective compared to traditional game drives. Choose between short safari trips at sunrise or sunset along the Rufiji River or a full-day boat safari, witnessing elephants bathing or crossing the river. As the day concludes, your guide will drive you to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Begin your day with a game drive, followed by a leisurely breakfast. Embark on a full-day game drive, exploring the expansive game-rich areas of Nyerere National Park. Traverse the reserve’s northern section, open for photo safaris, providing ample opportunities for unique wildlife encounters in this pristine environment. The park boasts up to 400 bird species, adding to the diversity of its residents. Despite dense vegetation, expect remarkable wildlife sightings. Your guide will drive you to the lodge after the day’s activities for a delightful dinner and overnight stay.
On your last day in the park, engage in an early morning walk with an armed ranger after breakfast. The walk, lasting 2 to 3 hours, offers insights into the park’s bush, emphasizing habitat and birdlife along with potential wildlife sightings. Explore the biodiversity in the surrounding areas during a game drive, spotting elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalo, zebras, and the rare African Wild Dog. A picnic lunch will be provided, allowing you to observe animals at waterholes. Your guide will return you to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and a final overnight stay.
After breakfast, your guide will drive through Mtemere Gate, the main gate and the most preferred because it is on the main road leading to Kibiti Town.
You will have the opportunity to view Tanzania’s beautiful landscape and grasslands along the way, and you will arrive in Dar es Salaam around noon. Your guide will bid you farewell and drive you to the airport for your flight home.
